Mechatronics

The purpose of the 102 -hour, hands on, course is to provide participants with an opportunity to increase their knowledge and skills in several primary areas of industrial maintenance, mechatronics and forklifts.  Upon successful completion of this program and a comprehensive NOCTI final assessment participants will receive a NOCTI Workforce Competency Credential, Forklift Certification on three lifts,  a non-credit certificate of completion from Chattahoochee Technical College and a guaranteed interview with a local manufacturing company.

Module 1 - Introduction to Mechatronics & Safety (8 hours)

  • Factory Tour
  • Workplace Electrical Safety Guidelines (NEC) Lock-out/Tag-out
  • PPE Safety Equipment
  • Proper use of hand tools
  • Hazardous Waste Disposal

Module 2 - Introduction to Mechatronics: Communication

(4 hours)

  • Operating Documents & Work Instructions
  • Interpret Test, Operating and Failure Logs
  • Verbalize Instructions and Communicate Problems

Module 3 - Instrumentation & Measurement (16 hours)

  • Proper use of Voltmeter, Multimeter & Ammeter
  • Sensor, Transducers, Gauges
  • Calibrate & Diagnose  Electrical Equipment

Module 4 - Electrical (18 hours)

  • Circuit Terminology and components
  • Ohm’s and Kirchhoff's Laws for Voltage
  • AC and DC
  • Series and Parallel Circuits
  • Interpret Wiring, Schematics and Ladder Diagrams
  • Power Supply

Module 5 - Mechanical (12 hours)

  • Differentiate Between Materials
  • Vibration and Noise Control
  • Valves, Bearings, Gears, Sprockets & Pulleys
  • Lubrication
  • Drive Systems

Module 6 - Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems (12 hours)

  • Differentiate Between Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems
  • Valves, Cylinders
  • Read Schematics
  • Pascal's Law
  • Filtration

Module 7 - Computer Control Systems (10 hours)

  • Identify Components of a Computer Network
  • Basic PLC Functions
  • Control & Monitoring Interfaces

Module 8 - Forklift Certification (16 hours)

  • Forklift Safety & Awareness
  • Preventive Maintenance Awareness & Inspection
  • Proper Loading & Unloading/Lift Selection
  • Backing/Maneuvering
  • Battery Care, Recharging & Refueling
  • Operation of three lifts: sit-down counter balance, electric pallet jack, and a stand-up reach lift.

  • NOCTI Job Ready Assessment Blue Print Mechatronics - Level 1

 

Students will also be required to complete weekly  online training course work to support classroom lectures and labs. 

 


 Class meets 8:00am - 4:30pm every Tuesday & Thursday April 2nd - March 23rd, 2021.

Cancellation and Refund Policy:

  • If CTC deems it necessary to cancel a class or testing session for any reason, you will be able to receive a full refund or transfer to another class date or testing session, if available.
  • Requests for refunds made at least 5 business days prior to a course beginning are subject to a 3% processing fee.

  • There are no refunds for requests made less than 5 business days prior to a course beginning.
