About Exams

The payment options for registering online are Visa or MasterCard.

 CLEP - College Level Examination Program College Board

  • 90 minute computer- based testing (except for optional essay exams as required by your school)
  • Check with your academic advisor and/or university catalog for eligibility and minimum score requirements
  • Registration is required
  • Must wait 6 months before retesting
  • $80 paid to CLEP via their website (clep.collegeboard.org) prior to testing
  • $35 non-refundable administrative fee due at registration
  • Valid ID required -- must match name on registration

    MAT - Miller Analogies Test

    • Computer-based test
    • Generally given every Wednesday morning at 9 AM and the first Wednesday evening of each month at 5:30 PM
    • Cost is $90
    • Registration is required at least 1 day before test date
    • Valid ID required -- must match name on registration

    Proctored Exams

    • All examinees seeking to register for proctored exams must first contact UAH Testing Services before continuing to online registration.

    • Registering online allows you to take a proctored exam. You must contact Testing Services at (256) 824-6725 at least two weeks prior to the desired appointment date to be assigned a specific date and time to take the test based on availability. You should contact Testing Services before registering online in order to ensure that our office has the dates/times you would like.  Click the "Register" link below to register and pay for the exam.

      Please note:  Our proctor fees have changed:

      Exams up to 3 hours in length will cost $35.  

      Exams over 3 hours in length, up to 4 hours will cost $45.

      Exams over 4 hours in length, up to 6 hours will cost $70.

      If your exam is over 6 hours in length, you will need to contact our office to discuss scheduling and fees.

      We are no longer offering the "buy 2, get 1 free" discount.

    Residual ACT

    • Must complete UAH Application for admission prior to testing
    • Scores are valid for admission to UAH only- cannot be transferred to another school
    • Pencil and paper test
    • Given on select dates- see Calendar
    • No score reports given or sent
    • Must wait 60 days before retesting
    • $75 non-refundable test fee due at registration
    • Valid ID required -- must match name on registration

    Chemistry Placement Examination

    • Photo ID required at check-in
    • No cost to the student
    • Must know your student “A number”
    • Paper/pencil format
    • Given by appointment, please contact Testing Services to schedule
    • 80 multiple choice questions
    • 80 minutes in length
    • Calculator is permitted
    • A score of 40 or higher is passing to bypass CH 101
    • Register online

    English Placement

    • Photo ID required at check-in
    • No cost to the student
    • Must know your student “A number”
    • Pencil and paper essay test
    • Success on this exam places a student into EH 101
    • Cannot be used to bypass EH 101 or EH 102
    • Results determined by the English department
    • Call Testing Services to schedule an appointment
