CLEP

YOU MUST BE AT TESTING LOCATION 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO YOUR DESIGNATED TEST TIME. NO LATE ADMITTANCE.

  • The CLEP test is a total of $122 with two separate payments.

  • First, go to http://www.collegeboard.com/CLEP and pay the $87.00 CollegeBoard fee. Upon registration, you will receive a ticket number specific to your name and exam. Please print a copy of your registration ticket and bring it with you on test day. It is critical for admission purposes that you bring a non-expired drivers license or passport with your name printed exactly as the name registered under by the examinee.  Any variance in registered name and name on drivers license or passport will cause loss of test center fee and inability to test.  Lack of appropriate, physical presentation of laminated driver's license or passport that is current will cause loss of test center fee.  Please read ID requirements on the Collegeboard.org site prior to any testing event Testing Services is not allowed to curtail Collegeboard requirements in any manner.

  • Next, go to the Testing Services website (http://www.utsa.edu/testing/CLEP.html) and pay the $35 UTSA fee. This nonrefundable fee is payble by VISA, MasterCard, or Echeck. During this step of the registration, you will be asked to enter the ticket number generated from CollegeBoard's website (see your registration ticket). Without this number, Testing Services will be unable to administer your CLEP exam.

  • CLEP tests requiring an essay (College Composition Modular and Analyzing & Interpreting Literature with Essay) require an additional fee of $15 (nonrefundable).

  • One reschedule is allowed if Testing Services is contacted no less than 2 weeks (10 business days) prior to the scheduled test date.

  • One form of valid, government-issued photo ID is required on test day. The ID must include a recognizable photograph and signature.  Acceptable types of ID include a driver's license, passport, or military ID. Home-school students and high school students lacking a government-issued ID may complete and submit a Student ID Form printable from CollegeBoard's website. For a complete list of acceptable IDs and more information about the Student ID Form, please visit https://clep.collegeboard.org/exam-day-info.

  • As of October 17, 2014, the waiting period to retake a CLEP exam is three months. You may not repeat a CLEP exam of the same title within three months of the initial testing date. If you retake an exam within this three-month period, your administration will be considered invalid, your score will be canceled, and all testing fees will be forfeited.
