HESI Exams Registrations
The HESI exam is only given at the West and East Campuses at this time, but it is available on any day that either campus is open. We charge a $60 proctoring fee for this exam.
Only two attempts of the HESI are permitted within a twelve month period (initial test and retake). Retakes may not be administered within six weeks of initial test.
Prior to your HESI exam:
- You must create an account to take your exam at Elsevier.
- You must know your Elsevier username and password to take the exam.
The HESI exam is separated into 9 sections that students have to complete in 4 hours.
- Reading Comprehension: reading scenarios, identifying main ideas, meanings of words, passage comprehensive, and logistical inferences
- Vocabulary & General Knowledge: terms used in general English speaking settings and health care field
- Grammar: basic grammar (parts of speech, terms and their uses, and grammatical errors)
- Math: basic math skills (math in health care field, addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, ratios, decimals, proportions, and house hold measures)
- Biology: water, molecules, metabolism, cells, cellular respiration, photosynthesis, etc.
- Chemistry: Chemical equations and reactions, periodic table, atomic structure, nuclear chemistry, and chemical bonding
- Anatomy & Physiology: general terminology, anatomical structures, and systems
- Learning Style: assess prefers learning styles
- Personality Profile: assess personality related to preferred learning style
You may go back and forth within an active section to answer questions. Once you close a section and move on to the next section of the exam, you may not go back to that closed section.
